Shipping Birds
Shipping is currently available via Delta only. The total cost to ship averages around $185, which includes the cost of the flight and the cost of the crate, depending on the location and the number of birds being shipped. Generally speaking, when shipping young birds, they can easily be shipped in a single crate and the cost does not change. Please note, the $185 cost is for the shipping only and does not include the cost of the birds.
If shipping via Delta, the birds, flight and box are all paid for in advance. The flight is booked by me through Delta and the buyer picks the birds up from their destination airport based on arrival time. I also sign the buyer up for notifications through the Delta website, which emails updates based on connections, arrival and pick-up time. |
Is shipping birds safe?
Yes! In my 13+ years of breeding, I have shipped and received birds through the airlines (first using United and now exclusively via Delta) more times than I can count and I have never once experienced any problem whatsoever. It's incredibly safe and reliable.
There is no minimum purchase requirement at this time to have a bird shipped. I understand the importance of receiving quality birds - so all birds are thoroughly photographed and weighed for selection purposes. I regularly send picture and video updates to all of my baby's parents so they have an opportunity to be a part of their baby's growth and development prior to their baby coming home. Because my babies are closed banded, you can also guarantee the bird you receive is the bird you've selected.
Please note: I do not ship unweaned babies, and I will not ship USPS.
It is against federal regulations to ship hookbills USPS, so please do not ask.
